It’s okay to not feel okay during this quarantine period. Our lives have all wreaked havoc and our external “normal” has been stripped away. While this is uncomfortable and challenging, the opportunity here isn’t to get back to “normal” but to shift from within to a new normal. Let’s face it, our “normal” lives, while we were used to them and their familiarity, didn’t always work and left certain essential aspects of ourselves out in the cold. With our normal stripped away, it actually grants us an opportunity to disentangle from the trappings of that pattern that weren’t serving us and reconnect within to some of our inner lights that have been disconnected, forgotten, neglected or cast aside.

It has been beautiful to watch people share resources, activities, games, opinions, needs, stories, etc. through social media outlets. This has been done in a way that never would have happened without a catastrophy. We will get through this, together. It’s the only way.

So.. here’s the deal..

  • Being productive or creative is a constructive way to cope with hard times. But if you are not feeling that drive, it’s okay.
  • Do not force yourself.
  • Do not get upset, if you are not “seizing the moment”.
  • It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, anxious and demotivated. This is absolutely normal.
  • Terrible things are happening in the world and in our own personal world as well.People are getting sick and dying across the globe. Many people, including ourselves or those we know, are going to lose our jobs. Many people have nothing to eat.People are living in fear. It’s a tough time for the whole world.
  • Allow yourself to feel the reality.
  • Do whatever makes you feel good. Talk to someone you love, who is supportive and ready to listen to you. Journal your feelings. Listen to songs or watch movies to cheer yourself up.
  • You don’t have to present a brave face to the world all the time. It’s okay to not feel okay.

We are humans. We can adapt. We grow.We evolve. We thrive, ultimately.
